Watching the Bumblebees

Uncategorized

On a breezy, sunny Thursday only a short four weeks ago, Audrey and I sat outside watching the bumblebees. Even though she’s only four months old and although we assume her genius (of course!), I still felt the need to explain to her what that bee was doing: hard work to collect pollen to make something very sweet that one day, she will like very much. That’s a lot of work for one little bee. I think the reason this moment was so amazing to me was that this was the moment I had been dreaming about–this small, seemingly insignificant space in time–where God reached down and said, “See–this is what it was all about.” Another reason that this time may seem even more significant to me now is that God didn’t just grant me spiritual peace in that time–God showed me tangible peace. The next day, Preston was offered a full-time teaching job, complete with benefits and a classroom, lesson plans and faculty meetings. You may not know the journey we’ve been on this year. I think we traveled it together as a family, but we are in a completely different place now than we were just twelve short months ago. God has led us to a better place–a place closer to Him–with memory of how we got here. We are more thankful, we are more aware of our blessings, and we are more joyful in all things, at all times. The next week, Preston began work on his new kindergarten classroom, and he has almost completed his second full week of teaching. He loves his job and the new school, and we know that all these things fell in to place because God had planned this long before we had. I plan to spend a lot more time this year being able to watch my children discover the bumblebees. How sweet it is to taste the wonderful blessings God has in store for us if we’re only willing to trust in faith.

SWEET!! God is so good, Brooke! So very good! Praise God for His blessing Preston with a wonderful job so that you can be at home to enjoy your children! I know the road was hard, in fact, I bet there were moments that the road felt like a sandy path in the middle of the desert in no man’s land. But our faithful God brought you through it. And now you are able to see His gifts through different eyes. Oh, how sweet it is!

    Love you girl!

By the way, my little Zachariah is almost five months old and Nora Grace just turned two! God has blessed me with two amazing children even though the doctors said it would never happen. Guess the doctors didn’t know how BIG my God is!
